Physiotherapy Services

If pain or a long term condition is affecting how you move, physiotherapy can help. Our physiotherapists work with you on strength, movement and physical function, giving you exercises and strategies to use day to day. The aim is to help you stay active and keep your independence.

Physiotherapy services for NDIS participants and private clients

If you’re an NDIS participant or private client, our physiotherapists focus on improving your movement and physical function. This can include exercise, movement based work and hands on therapy such as deep tissue massage and joint mobilisation.

Your physiotherapist will start with a thorough assessment of your physical function and your ability to manage everyday activities. From there, we develop a movement program suited to you, which might focus on strength, balance, mobility or pain management.

Practical Strategies to Support Positive Behaviour Change

Our allied health professionals take a holistic approach, supporting NDIS participants and private clients across physical, social and emotional wellbeing. This covers prevention, intervention, rehabilitation and education, depending on what you need.

We can meet you at home, at school, in the community or through online sessions, in both regional and city areas. Our services follow the NDIS price guide, so there’s no gap fee.

Our physiotherapists will

  • Build a tailored exercise program to support your strength, balance, fitness, mobility or pain management, and improve cardiovascular fitness
  • Prescribe manual handling strategies for complex needs, including support with pressure care
  • Assess and provide training for mobility and transfer related assistive technology
  • Support complex disabilities, such as neurological conditions, where a more detailed assessment is needed
  • Support your breathing and ongoing respiratory care
  • Provide continence education and support
  • Manage oedema
  • Help prevent or manage falls and injuries

Physiotherapy tailored to your needs

Our Humanity Allied Health physiotherapists can see you or your participant at home, at school, in the community, in one of our clinics or via online sessions. We offer flexible service delivery to suit individual needs, preferences and circumstances.

If travel, logistics or personal challenges make it hard to get to a clinic, online sessions could work better for you. They can also open up support from physiotherapists who aren’t based in your area, which can be useful if local options are limited. If you’d prefer, we can travel to a location that suits you, or arrange sessions in one of our clinics.

What does Physiotherapy look like under the NDIS?

We’ll start with a thorough, holistic assessment of your overall physical function, looking at how you manage everyday activities like getting dressed, moving around your home or completing daily tasks. From there, we build support around your NDIS goals.

This might include exercise programs tailored to your needs, education on managing your condition, or practical strategies to help with pain.

When is a Physiotherapy assessment or intervention program warranted?

  • You’re finding walking, climbing stairs or moving between positions difficult
  • Sitting, standing, walking, using stairs, reaching or lifting for extended periods is harder than it used to be, and this is affecting your daily activities and independence
  • Balance or coordination is making everyday tasks or getting around harder, including taking part safely in the community
  • You’re dealing with pain that’s difficult to manage, and it’s affecting your day to day life, your ability to complete daily activities, or your ability to get out and about
  • You need braces or aids prescribed

Physiotherapy vs Exercise Physiology:

  • Exercise physiologists (EPs) tend to focus on fitness rather than daily function. This can suit you if your day to day function is already at a good level, but conditions like comorbidities are affecting your cardiovascular fitness or general health.
  • Both EPs and physiotherapists can prescribe exercise programs for you. Physiotherapists can also provide manual therapy, such as joint mobilisation and soft or deep tissue massage.
